About this deal

Mix it up: You should also give your baby lots of opportunity to explore out of the swaddle, 'so pop them down on the floor and let them move around,' says Ratcliffe. 'This will help with startle reflex and organising their voluntary movements as well.'

However, it isn't for every baby, so don't be alarmed if your little one rejects swaddling in favour of stretching out. Every child is different when it comes to how they feel most comfortable. Baby swaddle safety advice This product changed my life with my baby as there was no more struggling to swaddle my little one in a blanket and it put an end to my constant fretting that he would be able to get out of the swaddle. This Groswaddle works perfectly and is very easy to use with clear instructions. Once your baby is happy with under-arm swaddling and wants to move around a little more, this is an ideal time to start using a Grobag Baby Sleep Bag. You can start using a Grobag Baby Sleep Bag when your baby weighs 4kg (8.8lbs). The Tommee Tippee swaddle bag is designed to be snug on top and spacious at the bottom to allow a natural hip-healthy leg position. This baby sleeping bag design is approved by the international hip dysplasia institute. Anyway dc2 has slept brilliantly in his sleeping bag. He usually wears a vest and babygro underneath, unless its especially warm when I'd just put him in one layer. For a September baby you would need a 2.5 tog - if you decide on a babasac they have a lining that can be removed to make it a 1 tog as well. In hotter weather a 1 tog may be useful.

Fluctuations in room temperature often require parents to adjust baby’s warmth levels during the night. However, changing baby’s wearing layers whilst they are sleeping can be disruptive and safer sleep guidelines warn against adding loose blankets on top of a baby sleeping bag as it introduces avoidable risks. Avoid layering: Do not add extra layers to baby swaddles. 'Blankets could cause overheating or suffocation should they pull them over their heads.' Wrapping or swaddling a baby in this super soft cotton rich fabric helps mimic the closeness of the womb. Swaddling baby in a baby sleeping bag can suppress the startle reflex that sometimes wakes a baby up, so newborns and parents can both enjoy more sleep.

Our All-Season sleepbag has been designed for arms out sleeping and should not be used as a swaddle. The poppers on the armholes (0-6m only) allow for fit adjustment for smaller babies to ensure a perfect fit, to keep baby safe and comfortable. Our sleepbags are slim fitting through the chest to enable full freedom of movement without restriction or excess bulk with a roomy, hip-healthy bottom.Do not use any additional blankets, sheets or other bedding with the Groswaddle. Adjust baby’s clothing underneath if you feel your baby is too warm or too coo Made from soft 100% cotton-rich, fluorescent-free fabric, our Swaddlebags are snuggly and kind on baby’s skin – perfect for a comfortable night’s sleep. We asked a group of real mums what they used to swaddle their baby and what they liked and disliked about it. The product is different to anything else on the market, as it combines a swaddle and a Grobag in one which is previously unavailable. This is useful for those (like me) that can't get the hang of swaddling using either special swaddle blankets, or regular blankets. This also takes the worry out of having to use blankets when my baby is too small to go in a regular Grobag.

Never swaddle too tightly: 'Don’t use a blanket,' says Ratcliffe. 'Instead use a thin muslin cloth or a light cotton sheet and wrap loosely around the hips to avoid hip dysplasia.' Below is a helpful list of the safety advice from our experts; sleep consultant Maria Murphy and Kate Holmes, Head of Support and Infomation at Lullaby Trust. As a general rule, in the recommended nursery temperature of 61-68°F (16-20°C) we recommend either a cotton bodysuit (short sleeves and no legs), try to cool it down, and if this isn’t possible then it may be better to leave baby out of the swaddle until it is cooler. When testing swaddles we consider a number of factors including ease of use, material, comfort and value for money.

I would highly recommend a sleeping bag as it takes away any worry about sheets and blankets getting over the babies face. We didn't use one for dc1 as we didn't realise they could be used from birth - he was swaddled instead. With dc2 we found a sleeping bag by Babasac (from John Lewis) which was ok from 3.4kg - grobags are from 4kg I think. (As it happened we could have used a grobag as dc2 was nearly 10lb!!) If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t change anything about this product – I couldn’t fault it at all and my baby was very happy when using it. A big thank you to The Gro Company! Tested by mum Liz for the Mother & Baby awards 2018: The Tommee Tippee Baby Sleep Bag for Newborns helps young babies to feel cosy and secure. The Original Grobag Swaddle Bag improves the quality of their natural sleep. It makes it much easier to swaddle my baby without having to battle with a blanket. My baby is also an escape artist and will try to wiggle out of a swaddle at any given opportunity, so this product is perfect, especially as I am not somebody who is particularly talented in the art of swaddling! Just like when they were in mummy’s tummy, our Swaddlebag helps young babies to feel cosy and secure to improve the quality of their natural sleep. Wrapping or swaddling baby with their arms inside soft fabric helps mimic the closeness of the womb and suppresses the startle reflex which can wake babies up. With this easy-to-use Swaddlebag you can use the poppers on the armholes to either swaddle your baby with arms in for total snugness or arms out to allow them to stretch. For super comfortable arms-in swaddling with no complicated wrapping or fastenings, simply lay your baby onto the Swaddlebag and zip them in.If your baby is below the recommended weight for the sleeping bag you may need to use sheets and blankets for a few weeks.
